KGT-NEWS:WATCHING THE WORLD ONLINE AND ON-AIR

WEEKEND: REID SIGNS ONTO DEBT DEAL
-Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he will support a debt ceiling deal reached between himself, Congressional Republican leadership, and U.S. President Barack Obama.
-AT LEAST 130 DEAD IN SYRIAN ATTACK: The Obama Administration has condemned a brutal attack on anti-government protesters that has left at least 130 dead.

FRIDAY'S NEWS:
-HOUSE DROPS VOTE ON DEBT BILL: In what some are calling a stunning blow to Republican Rep. John Boehner's speakership, the GOP-controlled House failed to pass Boehner's debt cutting plan after conservatives bailed on the deal.
-OBAMA MAKES ANOTHER PUSH: U.S. President Barack Obama made perhaps his most forceful push yet in effort to convince lawmakers in Congress to reach a compromise on a debt ceiling bill.

THURSDAY'S NEWS:
-KEY VOTE PLANNED IN DEBT BILL: The U.S. House has a key vote planned on Republican House Speaker John Boehner's revised debt ceiling plan. Senate leaders call it DOA.
-DEADLY AFGHAN ATTACK: At least 22 people are dead following a bombing and gun attack in South Afghanistan.

WEDNESDAY'S NEWS:
-REID AND BOEHNER TWEAK PLANS: U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) work on changes to their debt ceiling plans after the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office reported neither plan would slash the deficit by as much as each claimed.
-REPORT SHOWS THREATS IN US: A new report issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security indicates a threat of Americans being recruited by terror groups to attack the nation.

TUESDAY'S NEWS:
-CHRYSLER POSTS 2Q LOSS: Chrysler Group LLC reported a loss of $370 million for the second quarter of 2011. Company executives attribute it to repayment of loans to the U.S. and Canadian governments.
-HOUSE PLANS KEY DEBT PLAN VOTE: The Republican-led U.S. House has planned a vote on a balanced budget amendment.

MONDAY'S NEWS:
-CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS' NEW DEBT PLAN: Congressional Republicans and Democrats unveiled competing plans to deal with the nation's looming debt crisis as U.S. President Barack Obama prepares to address the country in prime-time.
-NFL PLAYERS APPROVE CONTRACT: The NFLPA approved a 10-year plan already supported by team owners, ending a nearly 5 month long lockout.
