KGT Netcast: Rebels Take Gaddafi's Compound

KGT-NEWS: This show starts with developing news of a 5.9 magnitude earthquake rocking the east coast of the United States. Originating in Virginia, it could be felt as far south as Georgia and as far north as Boston. Dave Kinchen and Gavin Witter cover the latest developments.

The show then shifts over to more developing news; the taking of Libyan leader Maummar Gaddafi's compound by rebels in the capital of Tripoli. It is the most definitive sign yet that his days in power are numbered, as rebels secured the hold they placed on the capital city over the weekend. However, the whereabouts of Gaddafi are unknown.

Also on the show, a look at the situation in Syria. World leaders are calling for President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but Russian officials buck the position, insisting Assad stay in power long enough to institute democratic reforms. Meanwhile world is studying a report issued by the United Nations documenting Assad's deadly crackdown on anti-government protesters; calling the actions crimes against humanity. KGT-NEWS: In the inaugural broadcast of Kinchen's Generation TONIGHT, Dave Kinchen and Gavin Witter review the results of Iowa's Ames Straw Poll. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann won that contest with Texas Rep. Ron Paul coming in second.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the presidential contest a day after finishing third.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry also jumped into the race. He made it official in an announcement from South Carolina on the same day as the straw poll. The show looks at his chances against a crowded Republican field.

Other stories on this show include the latest on the S&P credit downgrade, and President Barack Obama's efforts to get the economy back on track.

KGT-NEWS: A new era is beginning for us here at KGT! We are heading into our 4th year as an Internet radio show (our anniversary is on August 17th), and we've decided to re-launch our beloved program with a new name, slightly new format and new branding.

Kinchen/Gonzales TONIGHT is now Kinchen's Generation TONIGHT; the same show but with an even bigger focus on news, sports, and culture related stories from the perspective of a younger generation of Americans.

The show is now hosted by Dave Kinchen with commentator Gavin Witter checking in on the big issues. Founding co-host Nick Gonzales left the show in January of this year due to other commitments, though he has made guest appearances from time to time to talk sports.

Our revamped show makes its debut on August 14th, 9PM eastern standard time. We hope you'll join us for A New Generation of Talk Radio!

Other highlights include a look at new Michigan Head Coach Brady Hoke and this year's rivalry between the Wolverines and Michigan State.
